On August 3rd, join Elbow Room for “Too Much Sun”, a group show and fundraiser kickoff featuring new work by all of the incredible artists we support!
Elbow Room is a Portland arts organization focused on providing material support, opportunities for collaboration and community engagement, representation, mentorship, and space to work and be together for artists experiencing intellectual and developmental disabilities. We prioritize neurodiversity, inclusion, collaboration, and the specific interests, needs, and goals of the artists we work with.
The project began in 2020 as a way to support local artists and maintain community after many local day programs were forced to close due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. We currently hosts an array of virtual classes and workshops as well as in-person programming five days a week. Our programming is made possible thanks to the generous support various community partners that have opened their doors to us, including the Independent Publishing Resource Center, the Headwaters Theatre, the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art, the Oregon Society of Artists, Side Yard Annex Farm, and the Alberta Abbey.
