Friends of Noise is thrilled to collaborate with the Biamp Portland Jazz Festival to bring to the Alberta Abbey main stage Greaterkind, Portland Jazz Collective and Mt Hood Collective.
greaterkind formed in Portland, OR in 2018 by three friends on a communal mission to spread love and inclusivity through the medium of music and agriculture. Channeling elements of jazz fusion and funk with undertones of R&B, gospel and hip hop, greaterkind sets out to do something that is new.
Portland Jazz Collective is a local jazz trio composed of Portland area high school and college students. The three of us, Dakaria Dove on drums, Robert Rodriguez on bass, and Davasate Phelps on piano and vocals, have been playing together for about 7 months. They all have different directions we want to go musically in life but this band is what brings us together.
Mt. Hood collective is a student group from Mt.hood community college, with a focus on jazz and jazz improvement. The group consists of several members with varying backgrounds and goals in music. But are all tied together with their love of jazz, and want to create and learn more.
