U SCO
U SCO formed in 2010, although members Jon Scheid, Phil Cleary, and Ryan Miller had been making music together long before then. U SCO’s music lives at the intersection of through-composition and improvisation. “Avant-metal” and “out-jazz” are frequently used genre descriptions. These are fitting given that the band has shared stages with Secret Chiefs 3, Trevor Dunn, Dysrhythmia, Battle Trance, Holland Andrews, Bushman’s Revenge, Dan Weiss’ Starebaby, Ahleuchatistas, Dreamdecay, Rebel One Excalibur, THOU, and many more over the years. New for 2023, Catchin’ Heat is the band’s fourth LP and it showcases the trio in a new light. Catchin’ Heat features U SCO’s sonically characteristic peaks and valleys of high-energy “shred” ala shrieking lines over shifting polymeters, brooding harmonies, and explosive precision. “
